Disability Adaptation Assessments

Our assessments are carried out by an experienced team of a registered Occupational Therapist and Approved Driving Instructor to provide a holistic and safe assessment, and clinically informed decisions on the best options to allow drivers to safely and comfortably control their vehicle following illness or injury.
Assessments take up to two hours and consist of a clinical and driving history, assessment of physical ability and an in-car drive to determine feasibility of recommended control adaptations. We ensure that each assessment is client centred and focuses on ensuring the best outcome for each individual.
Following assessment, we provide a comprehensive report including recommendations on suitable adaptations.
We are pleased to be able to offer these assessments in partnership with Baseline Therapy and Des Gosling Mobility LTD. Once suitable adaptations are identified we are able to refer to Des Gosling Mobility, our expert adaptation specialists, who can provide further information on costing, supply, and fitting of adaptations, whether through the Motability scheme or privately.
Please note we are unable to carry out assessments for clients who do not hold a current full or provisional driving licence, or those referred for assessment by DVLA.

At Ascentia Driver Training, we’re committed to helping every driver stay safe, confident and independent behind the wheel for as long as possible. In partnership with Baseline Therapy and Des Gosling Mobility LTD we are proud to be able to offer Disability Adaptation Assessments.
Our Assessments are designed for clients who already hold a driving licence but may need vehicle adaptations following an injury, illness or change in mobility.
Available to drivers who already hold an entitlement to drive, with either a full or provisional driving licence, we can help determine the right adaptations to allow for safer driving for longer.
